Wow You're a Sight for Sore Eyes

I have barely been here myself lately
but it's years since my blog, you've seen.
I only have one question...
Where the bloody hell have you been...

Fairyland for Ems

I know it's a fairy, couldn't find an elf.

The Elf and the Dormouse

by Oliver Herford, 1863-1935 (published in the 1800's)

Under a toadstool crept a wee Elf,

Out of the rain to shelter himself.

Under the toadstool, sound asleep,

Sat a big Dormouse all in a heap.

Trembled the wee Elf, frightened,

and yet Fearing to fly away lest he get wet.

To the next shelter--maybe a mile!

Sudden the wee Elf smiled a wee smile,

Tugged till the toadstool toppled in two.

Holding it over him, gaily he flew.

Soon he was safe home, dry as could be.

Soon woke the Dormouse--"Good gracious me!

Where is my toadstool?" loud he lamented.

--And that's how umbrellas first were invented.

Oh Toy I just adore it! I grew up in Scotland and used to love when we went to visit rellies that lived in the Highlands... My sister and I used to spend hours playing in places that looked just like these pics :) We hunted for pixies and played magical games :) Your pics just take me back there :) I love the poem and the pic of the mouse as well :)

Thank you so much Toy...

Know how you feel Ems. I couldn't believe my eyes, or luck, for that matter, coming across them. I usually wander along the opposite side of the creek which I find simply magical. I've spent hours there, I just love the area...people can't see why I enthuse over the area...Obviously they're not seeing what I see...til they see my pics. The toadstools only began coming through after the 2005 bushfires.

I see that I took this lot, 175 of them lol, last May so I'll be heading out there again soon to check out the toadstools again. Wonder if any other shapes and colours will poke their heads through this year...toy

What gorgeous fungi Toy.
The last picture is exactly the same as the fungi that grew on a dead tree stump in our yard when we first moved here - so very pretty.

And Vegie standing among them makes you feel as if you're in another world. Just a couple more weeks and I'll be able to head out there again but don't know whether they'll come through this year as we've had practically no rain...toy
